IBIZA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
IV EDITION 9th A 13th JUNY 2010

The Ibiza Film Festival is keeping the spirit - its the unique opportunity to see exclusive films otherwise impossible to see in Spain. The official section counts with unedited features, two world premieres and three european premieres, all competeing for the Golden Falcon.
The Silverscreen will be showing the film Backyard, winner this year of the Independent Spirit award for its daring social comment. In this edition there will be an homage to the Spanish Film Academy directed by Alex de la Iglesia, the section dedicated to shorts called Balearic Spirit, and other diverse sections which can be found on the website as from monday www.ibizaiff.org and also in the catalogue which can be obtained in Vara de Rey in Ibiza and Salamera in Santa Eulalia.
Patrons of the festival are ,Terry Gilliam, Sir Alan Parker, Bigas Luna, Jacqueline Bisset, Antonio Isasi, Angela Molina and John Hurt.
The jury in this fourth edition of the festival is formed by Jacqueline Bisset (president), Carlos Bardem, Alex de la Iglesia, Antonio Isasi Isasmendi y Simón Andreu.

THE CLOSING CEREMONY WILL BE DIRECTED BY PRESTIGIOUS DIRECTOR MARCO CARNITI

Casting for the Ibiza Film Festival will be held on Tuesday
The fourth edition of the Ibiza Film Festival will be full of surprises. The prestigious director, Marco Carniti, who won six Falcons D'Or during the second edition of the Festival, is directing this year's Closing Ceremony. As well as directing films, Carniti is fast becoming an internationally renowned stage director. One of his latest projects was directing Mozart's ''La Clemenza di Tito'' at Madrid's Teatro Real. He is currently preparing versions of ''El Barbero de Sevilla'' that of Rossini's as well as that of Paisiello's in Sardinia; ''La Fierecilla Domada'' in Rome; and ''Simon Bocanegra'' Verdi for Madrid's Teatro Real in October.
“Having Carniti direct the Closing Ceremony is a real treat. Not only because he was the biggest prizewinner during the Festival's second edition, but also for the quality of his work,” adds Xavier Benlloch, director of the Ibiza Film Festival.
For the Closing Ceremony, the Ibiza Film Festival will be needing actors, sword and fire eaters, and musicians, all as volunteers. The casting will be held on Tuesday, June 8 at the Palacio de Congresos in Santa Eulalia at 12:00 noon.
Brief Profile of Marco Carniti
During his career, he studied in Italy and the United States, with Grotowski and Bob Wilson. He was the Assistant Director to Giorgio Strehler at the Teatro Piccolo. He later worked at the most renowned European and non-European theaters with prestigious directors such as Bob Wilson, Lluis Pasqual, Giancarlo del Monaco, Maurizio Scaparro, Elaija Mosinsky, Mascota de Halmen and Deflo de Gilbert.
He has formed and directed a company of young actors as Artistic Director of the “Juventud” project of Rome's Griffi.
He directed his first feature film “Sleeping” and won six awards at the 2008 Ibiza Film Festival, including Best Picture and Best Director.
He has directed opera, theater and is currently becoming a world renowned stage director.

THE IBIZA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL PRESENTS ITS VOLUNTEERS

Xavi Benlloch, Director of the Ibiza Film Festival, together with the group forming the Festival's fourth edition, will be introducing the volunteers collaborating with this year's festival on Saturday.
Each year, people volunteering to help out on in the Festival keeps increasing. They are a vital part of the Ibiza Film Festival's elaboration. Wardrobe and props for this year's edition will also be presented on Saturday.

THE IBIZA INTERNATION FILM FESTIVAL HOSTS A BENEFIT AUCTION FOR THE BUYAMOVIEROLE AND WWF FOUNDATIONS
After its success in Cannes, the auction is held once again at NOVUM with Gary Dourdan as auctioneer

The Ibiza International Film Festival together with buyamovierole.com and the WWF year of the tiger, will auction off roles within particular films to collect funds to increase the tiger population in their natural habitats. This event, also held in Cannes, is for film enthusiasts. Its aim is to take advantage of the film festivals and the media coverage they bring to spread the message of the need to fight for the environment, to fight against animal extinction, poverty, etc. The auction is to bid for participation in a movie, within its production, filming and post-production.
The event will be hosted by Gary Dourdan, known for his role in the American TV series CSI Las Vegas. It will be held on June 10 at 11:00 PM at NOVUM restaurant (Ctra San Miguel Km 0.5).
The films available at the auction will be:
1. Catwalk: by the director Anthony Hickox with a starting bid of 1,580 EUR
2. Whores with guns: by the director James Marquand with a starting bid of 1,248 EUR
3. Coronet: filming of a scene with Ralph Fiennes, with a starting bid of 3,245 EUR
4. Mannerheim: a war film by the director Renny Harlin, where a role will be auctioned off at the starting bid of 2,080 EUR
5. Building 7: a documentary on the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center in New York, with a starting bid of 4,576 EUR
6. The Harrowing: a terror film of low cost. Starting price of 2,910 EUR
7. The Lords of Gas “ The Seconds Coming”: a satire on the Bible which will be filmed in Ibiza from June 10-13

IBERMAISON PRESENTS THE CHAIR AND CINEMA

Ibermaison, leading designers and set designers, and the Ibiza Film Festival present “The Chair and Cinema”.
Led by its director Massi Ferrachi and as sponsors of this edition of the Festival, Ibermaison has designed the space within the Palacio de Congresos in Santa Eulalia, seat of the Festival. A conceptual space where the chair is highly represented in its profound relationship with the cinema. Model Seven chairs from the 30's, the famous Pantene chair, a small “Sex Museum” and a concept that brings forth emotions and energy directly related to the event. A new way of organizing a space combining cinema with design and the concept of order and energy.
''Our lives are films. Films are our life'', is the motto of this project of the deep relationship between films, design, energy, emotions and chairs, that hold our weight while we enjoy the seventh art.

The Ibiza International Film Festival will be holding the Awards and Closing Ceremony of this edition at the Palacio de Congresos in Santa Eulalia.
The gala, to be hosted by Daniela de Angel and Ricard Sales, will be directed by Marco Carniti, the Italian director of films, theater and opera and winner of six awards for his film Sleeping Around during the second edition of the Ibiza Film Festival.
He is known for directing difficult scenes on hot social and human rights issues.
Part of the ceremony will be a protest by actors of the island against cuts on the funding of the arts that many European countries are suffering.
Attending the ceremony will be: Jacqueline Bisset, Carlos Bardem, Alex de la Iglesia, Antonio Isasi Isasmendi, Simon Andreu, Gary Dourdan, actors and actresses of the Official Section, the actress Ana Obregon and various personalities from Ibiza.
