    Rules Ibiza & Formentera IFF 2008
    2nd Edition - (23May - 31May).
     

     

    Introduction

       The second edition of Ibiza IFF will take place from 23 to 31 May ( inclusive ) 2008.

       The Ibiza International Film Festival is a competition and a showcase for international productions where everyone competes under equal conditions. In the selection process originality and technical expertise will be examined together with screenwriting and acting abilities.

     
    Rules

       The Ibiza international Film Festival is intended to be a platform where international filmmakers are able to compete on an equal basis without being inhibited by budget or technology. In this section criteria will be based on originality and execution.

       The second edition of the festival will take place from 23 to 31 May 2008.

       Selected films must be presented in the following formats:

       Format :     35mm (any sound system except DTS) - or
                            Digital

     
    Pre-selection
    1. Festival organisers will pre-select films and TV works in the different sections.

    2. Copies with bad image and/or sound conditions will be excluded from the festival.

    3. Applicants will be responsible for third party rights violation, the organiser of the IFF are in no way responsible for any violation committed by entrants.

    4. Selected films will be shown according to the calendar and timetable established by the organisers.

    5. Submission means that applicants authorise the showings of the film during the festival and the pre-selection comittee screenings.

    6. Films cannot be removed from the festival once they have been selected.

    7. With the consent of the applicants, pre-selection copies can remain in the IbizaIFF archives.

    8. The festival will not pay for the transport costs of sending prints. Return postage or courier fees must be prepaid by the applicants.

    9. The selection committee will screen a film without subtitles if the original language is English or Spanish. If not, the copy will have to be subtitled in either English or Spanish.

    1. Working copies of films are acceptable - please ensure that you specify on the entry form whether the film is in final version or working version.

    2. All prints should be sent with prepaid return shipping - all transportation costs are to be borne by the producer or the sender. Digital tapes and DVD’s must be sent by certified post or courier service with "for cultural use only and without commercial value" marked on the exterior.

    3. If your film is selected you will be contacted before it is officially announced. Once selected, a 35mm print or HD digital version must be supplied within two weeks.
     
    Presentation

       For pre-selection purposes all documentation and payment must be correctly filled out and presented before May 1th 2007 together with a DVD of the film, T.V. pilot, documentary etc. This need not be the final cut but must contain the whole story.

       Material that is out of time may be presented out of competition with the possibility of receiving a special mention from juries.

       The corresponding legal rights for any submissions must be obtained by the presenter of said submission, the festival is not responsible for any work that is fraudulently obtained or presented.

     
    Language and Subtitles

       All work that is not in English or Spanish in the original should be subtitled in English or Spanish. It is recommended that subtitles are in English for films and Spanish for TV.

     
    Sending
      
    All fees must be paid fully, cost of customs, transport etc., and it is recommended that return postage is also paid fully. The festival will take responsability for films once they have arrived at the festival offices where they will be fully insured. In the case of loss or deterioration of prints the equivalent of a standard copy will be paid.
     
    Returns
      
    Pre-selection DVD's will remain in the festival library where they will be available for study. 35mm films will be returned to the producers via the prepaid transport company.
     
    Agreement

       Selected films may not be removed from the programme.

       Winners of awards must comply with festival regulations and mention the festival in all publicity and press releases using the festival logo. This logo is available through the festival offices.

     
       In the case of misunderstanding of this rule the Spanish text will be applicable. Participation in the festival implies understanding of the present rulings. In the case of conflict the festival reserves the right to the final decision in compliance with FIAPF rulings.
